Latin word “sola “ means alone and “scriptura” refers to our scriptures.
Sola scriptura means that Scripture alone is authority of Christian faith and practice. The Bible is complete, authoritative and true as written in 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” .
Concept of Sola Scriptura comes in when questions and personal opinions starts to take priority over the teachings in the Bible. Therefore it is important that the only way to know for sure what God expects of us is to stay true to what we know He has revealed, His word — the Bible. We have to be sure and no doubt of the fact that the Scripture is reliable.
Wayne Grudem, author of Systematic Theology define: "The inerrancy of Scripture means that Scripture in the original manuscripts does not affirm anything that is contrary to fact" .
According to Tim Challies, What Inerrancy is Not:
inerrancy does not preclude the use of ordinary language;
inerrancy does not preclude the use of loose and free quotations;
the Bible can be inerrant even if it contains unusual grammatical constructions; and Scripture is inerrant only in its original autographs.
“Straw men have never been known to put up much of a fight, hence, trying to defend an errant view of sola scriptura always results in defeat.” By James White
Until proven, which i doubt will, our scripture is truly the word of God and from God to all mankind and there is no error.
